Now that the filing deadline has passed, the choice for Midtown couldn’t be clearer. Right now, our city is at a crossroads, and the two paths offered by my opponents would take Anchorage in the wrong direction.
One of my opponents, Dave Donley, is a career politician and close ally of Governor Dunleavy. While serving on the School Board, he has consistently prioritized a divisive MAGA political agenda over the needs of our students, educators, and families.
His record is one of obstruction. In 2022, he was the lone “no” vote against the three-year contract for our teachers and support staff. While the rest of the board voted to show educators they are respected and appreciated, Dave Donley turned his back on them.
He has repeatedly railed against pensions for first responders even though he himself is a pension beneficiary and he opposed vital budget measures and school bonds that keep our classrooms funded and safe. And, instead of doing the critical work of improving student outcomes, he has focused on culture-war distractions that view our public institutions as a political battleground.
My other opponent, is a registered “U” voter who has remained largely silent because of her hard-right convictions. With practically no social media presence and no political donations, she is a “blank slate.”
In a time of crisis, whether we are talking about our housing shortage, public safety, or the future of our schools, Midtown deserves representation by someone with clear values.
I am running because I believe in an Anchorage where government works for everyone. My focus remains exactly where it has always been:
- Investing in our schools so that working families want to stay rooted here.
- Responsible affordable housing by prioritizing the revitalization of underused commercial areas and dilapidated properties to create new options for our workforce without changing the unique character of our established residential streets.
- Ensuring public safety that is compassionate, effective, responsive, and accountable.
I’ve spent my life as a nurse, small business owner, and legal advocate fighting for the most vulnerable among us. I’m ready to take that same determination to the Assembly and work across the aisle to keep Midtown moving forward.
The stakes are high, and the choice is now yours. I hope you will join me and ensure we keep Anchorage moving forward.
