Janice Park Announces Anchorage Assembly Campaign with Early Endorsements from Senator Elvi Gray-Jackson and Alaska AFSCME Retiree Chapter 52

Anchorage, AK—Today, Janice Park officially launched her campaign for the open Anchorage Assembly seat in Midtown’s District 4, where she built a strong coalition of support in her 2024 legislative campaign.

A 26-year Midtown resident and paralegal who has taken on the system and successfully argued twice before the Alaska Supreme Court, Park has spent years helping women navigate custody disputes, divorce proceedings, and legal red tape. Now, she’s running to bring that same determination to City Hall, with a focus on safer neighborhoods, responsive city services, and a local government that listens to everyone.

“Anchorage is where I raised my kids, built a life, and came to believe deeply in this city and the people who make it worth fighting for,” Park said. “Over the years, I’ve watched the homelessness crisis grow worse, disenfranchising families, overwhelming our public spaces, and straining small businesses. I believe we can care deeply about our unhoused neighbors and still say Midtown deserves safe sidewalks, clean parks, and a responsive public safety system that works. We don’t have to choose between compassion and common sense. We can do both.”

Park’s candidacy has already garnered widespread early support from across the political spectrum.

“I’m impressed by Janice’s enthusiasm and genuine commitment to public service,” said Sen. Gray-Jackson. “She brings a fresh perspective and a strong dedication to our community. Her experience outside of government offers a valuable, real-world viewpoint, and she is eager to listen, learn, and lead with integrity and ethics.”

Park has also earned the endorsement of Alaska AFSCME Retiree Chapter 52, representing retired public employees across the state.

“Janice Park understands the value of public service because she’s spent her life working alongside the people who keep our communities running,” said Jan Carolyn Hardy, President of Alaska AFSCME Retiree Chapter 52. “She knows what it means when we fail to invest in teachers, public safety workers, and city employees. I trust her to fight for strong services and a city government that works for everyone.”

Assembly District 4 encompasses a significant portion of the area where Park previously ran a highly competitive State Senate race and won the 2024 primary election. Her name recognition, combined with her previous strong support from organized labor and a deeply rooted grassroots network, gives her a solid foundation heading into the April 2026 municipal election.

“This race isn’t a stepping stone for me. I’m not looking for a leg up or a future political move. I’m running to ensure we prioritize the people and businesses that make up the most important district in the municipality: Midtown. It’s the heart of Anchorage, and it deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and gets things done,” concluded Park.

Park’s campaign is already in full swing, with volunteers knocking doors, yard signs going up across Midtown, and direct outreach underway to voters throughout District 4.
